Make it at Home: Sonsie’s Balkan Spy
Ever wanted to explore the types of drinks you can make with sparkling wine, besides just popping and pouring? We thought so; that’s why we have started our ‘Make it at Home‘ series. We have collaborated with some of our favorite restaurants to share what cocktails they love making with Champy, and bringing you the recipes, so you can enjoy from the comfort of your patio or dining room table.
The Balkan Spy, named after a relatively unknown film from Belgrade Serbia, features a fresh take on a traditional sparkling cocktail, but pays homage to the classics. With an elevated twist on a traditional vodka cranberry, all you need in addition is some St. Germaine, Champy, and a lemon.
Here’s how you can make it at home:
- 2oz of Citrus Vodka
- 2oz of White Cranberry Juice
- .5oz of St.Germaine
- Shaken & double strained into a coupe glass and topped with a Champy float!
- Finish with a wipe of the glass with a lemon twist! Add a homemade maraschino cherry extra flair.
While the team at Sonsie serves this tasty drink up in a coupe glass, feel free to enjoy in a traditional champagne glass as well. They paired this particular cocktail with a half dozen oysters from Duxbury, and we think it’s tasty with mussels, salmon, and even some lobster.
